The cats have a structured routine each day which means there are hours that they are more sleepy or active in. For more alert and playful cats we would recommend the 10am, 12pm, or 5pm sessions. The sessions from 2pm to 4pm are generally when the cats are mostly asleep. Cats sleep for 18 hours a day on average so if you want a calm and relaxing session book in for the sleepy times, or if you would like a more interactive session we strongly recommend the hours outside of 2-4pm. PLEASE DO NOT SMOKE DIRECTLY BEFORE YOUR SESSION, THE CATS DISLIKE STRONG ODOURS.
Do I need to show confirmation when visiting?
Once you have booked online we have your reservation. You do not need to print anything out or show confirmation of your booking. We only require the name under which the booking was made.
Do you have Disability Access?
Our location at 30 Guildford Lane does have wheelchair access to the ground floor. The cat cafe is spread across both the ground floor and first floor, and the cats can come and go freely between the two floors. If you have mobility restrictions and cannot climb stairs please email catcafemelbourne@gmail.com to arrange your visit to the ground floor.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row css=”.vc_custom_1489041968872{margin-top: 90px !important;margin-bottom: 150px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_column_text css_animation=”none” el_class=”full-left-top-border-shadow”]What Food is available at the Cat Cafe?
We can only serve a limited range of food and beverages at the cat cafe due to strict restrictions placed by the city council. We have a range of cookies, cakes, slices and chips snacks as well as a range of hot and cold drinks. Please be aware we do not cater large meals, only snacks. Only food and beverages purchased at the cat cafe will be permitted into the cat area. Please understand we are not a cafe, but a cat cafe. Our main focus is the cats welfare and happiness.

Can I adopt a cat from the cafe?
No, the cats are not up for adoption. The cats will live at the premises permanently. We believe it would not be fair on the cats to move them from a shelter, to the cat cafe, and then on again to another home. It would be very stressful for the cats. It would also be difficult to continuously find new cats that are suitable in personality, and it would create health risks for the cats, bringing in new cats all the time. There are also other boring legal reasons regarding an adoption centre with a cafe in the same premises that I won’t go into! If we wanted to adopt the cats there is a good chance the city council would never let us open. Cat Cafe Melbourne will be promoting adoption through shelters as this is their profession and can answer any questions regarding adoptions.
Is there a charge to see the cats?
Yes, there is an entrance fee of $12/ person/hr to enter the cat areas. This entrance fee is to cover costs associated with the cats such as equipment, medication, worming, flea treatment, and vet visits. Please be aware this in a non-refundable entrance fee. If a booking has been made for the incorrect time/date slot we may be able to change this, however we will require at least 48 hours notice via email: catcafemelbourne@gmail.com
Are children of all ages allowed?
No, we have an age restriction in place for the protection of the cats and babies and young children. No child under 8 years old is allowed upstairs in the cat areas.
Is there work experience / jobs available at Cat Cafe?
Currently, we do not have any vacant positions and do not offer work experience. Any future jobs will be posted on our website and social media.
